Unforgivable errors from ‘Headies’ 2018 nominees list

It’s no more news that the organizers of Nigeria biggest award show, ‘the Headies,’ have settled their difficulties and are set to host the 12th edition of the show.

A year ago, the Headies Awards did not come around as many would have expected. The organizers put out a public statement saying it was taking a little more time to adjust, rethink and repackage the music awards platform.. There was deferment and afterward greater delay all because the Headies Awards needs to give us something deserving of it’s well deserved reputation.

Finally, an official date for the function has been uncovered together with the names of the this year’s nominees. In all honesty, the news didn’t make a considerable measure of buzz like it would have gathered previously. Quite possibly a few of us began minding less if the Headies moved by or not. In any case, But then here it is!

In spite of the fact that it took a year long and some three months to organize the forthcoming 12th edition of the music award ceremony, that has not made it absolutely without unmistakable blunders. So a rundown of nominees was divulged and a couple of blunders have been spotted. One year and a couple of months is very sufficiently long to keep away from this kind of mistake on the nominees list.

Here are some of the blunders that would have been avoided if only more research was done by the awards panel.

According to the nominees list for ‘Producer of the Year, two of the nominees were credited for songs they did not producer.

Firstly, Tekno is credited for producing ‘IF’ and ‘RARA’. No doubt that Tekno legitimately produced ‘IF’, which was one the biggest hit a year ago but he wasn’t the one that produced ‘RARA’. His label mate Selebobo holds the credit for producing ‘Rara’ which was dished out in December 2016. Towards the end of the song, ‘Selebobo on the beat’ trademark peeks through.

Once more, Masterkraft is credited for delivering Flavor’s ‘Virtuous Woman’, a track from ‘Ijele The Traveler’ collection. Meanwhile the production credit on that track ought to have been given to music producer and writer, Cobhams Asuquo. Well there is no uncertainty Masterkraft is in charge of delivering Tekno’s hit ‘Yawa’.

Another unforgivable error is spotted in another category for ‘Album of the Year.

Brymo does not deserve to be nominated for that award in the upcoming Headies Awards 2018 because of the period in review July 2016 – December 2017. The album ‘Klitoris’ by Brymo was released in May of year 2016. That’s not all, ‘Klitoris’ was nominated for ‘Best R&B/Pop Album’ during the 2016 Headies Awards. An award category that was won by Kiss Daniel for his ‘New Era’ album. It’s too much of an oversight to have nominated Brymo’s album ‘Klitoris’ for an award in 2016 and 2018 by the Headies.

These blunders discovered puts the meticulousness and attention paid to details of the awards panel in doubt. The mistakes here said would have been easily avoided if more attention was given in crosschecking certainties. It would be incredible if the organizers can rectify these blunders before they are viewed as being laissez faire by the easily irritable public.
