OAU college students put a matter to reversal of tuition hike, threaten inform

Abass Ojo, the president of the union, made the charm at a news convention on the university premises in Ile-Ife on Monday.

The institution had, in a start by its public family officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, disclosed that the choice to hike the tuition was taken by the Senate of the university at its emergency meeting on Sept. 12.

Mr Ojo mentioned that the management of the union had issued a five-day ultimatum to the faculty management to reverse rate increment, starting from Sept. 15 to Sept. 19.

He mentioned that if the faculty management refused to reverse the increment after the ultimatum, the union would embark on series of restful protests and other activities.

Mr Ojo mentioned that college students’ union within the full federal universities had been in accord to fight in opposition to tuition increments in all campuses within the nation.

In response to him, it is OAU college students’ union that’s delaying the management of the National Affiliation of Nigerian Students (NANS) on the instruct and federal ranges on when to shut activities in assorted campuses.

“We are the ones keeping others waiting. We told them to inform patience till after the ongoing dialogue with the management,” he mentioned.

Mr Ojo mentioned that the excuse given by the faculty management that the increment was on account of the fact that the federal govt easiest pay workers salaries, whereas the university is in fee of other prices, was no longer tenable.

Mr Ojo known as on the federal govt to amplify budgetary allocation to the learning sector toward providing quality training.
