Music king: Davido the center of the controversy

Since Davido came back from his being away from social media, the singer has been in and out of controversy and he is stopping at nothing as he bares it all out in his interviews through 2020. Sometimes it just seems like the singer loves the attention he gets from controversy and now he enjoys it. He just says things according to what he feels and he is not hiding. Cumulating some of the controversies that involved the singer in 2020.

Recently on one of his interviews on Ndani TV with Bolanle Olukanni, Davido called himself the biggest artist in Nigeria. This was to spark a controversy against his fellow musician in the industry. Early in the year one of the artist that made such utteration was Burna boy who called himself the giant of Africa, this didn’t go well with many of Davido and Wizkid’s fans who quickly shunned him. - Amakuru agezweho, udushya n'udukoryo hirya no hino ku Isi


We recalled that Davido then posted a picture of himself and Wizkid which went viral as being the two greatest. Many of their fans and followers were able to settle with this because there has always been a drag between who was the biggest and both sides haven’t been able to submit to the other.

But during this is interview the singer said he was the greatest musician in Nigeria. A few weeks earlier after wizkid dropped his album ‘Made in lagos’, Davido congratulated him and called him “King”. After making the tweet, he expected that Wizkid would have responded to him but this didn’t happen.

This didn’t seem to go down well with Davido, reacting to it, Davido stated that Wizkid didn’t reply because he knows he’s (Davido) is the biggest Artist.

Many believed that wizkid already responded to davido after someone from the DMW crew made a negative comment about wizkid album that it was trash.

Davido calling wizkid king might have just been just to scorn him because the album made in Lagos wasn’t the taste of many as it was way off his usual style of singing.

Wizkid might have felt that and he made a post where he stated that he already had another album

Was it that wizkid knew likewise that his latest album didn’t sit well with his music lover and he already had an alternative in place. so are we to be expecting another album from wizkid soonest. We don’t know what to expect yet.


During another interview with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Bounce RadioLive aired on YouTube, davido was asked some questions about his rivalry with Wizkid.

Davido said so much about Wizkid and recalled his early days when he first met him. The singer said that he first met Wizkid when he was invited to a performance at his father’s yearly Christmas party. He said he strongly admired him that year and he was one of the persons that motivated him that he could likewise make it in the music industry.  He noted that the issue of their rivalry began when he started music and fans started comparing them with each other.

The singer also noted that fans didn’t let things go well between them. He said he has always hoped for a collaborative album and tour with Wizkid which has never materialized.

During the same interview, he was asked some questions about his relationship with singer Burna boy, Davido revealed that things went rough between them after the post which he made of himself and wizkid as two greatest.

Davido said it was fans that keep pitting them against each other. Davido called Burna his brother and that he was happy about his achievement and success.

The singer also noted that his singles FEM wasn’t all about Burna Boy he said his music referred that Burna should call him and come party.

Davido said that he wasn’t fighting with either Wizkid or Burna Boy but that it seems both of them are the ones fighting with him even though he had nothing against them.

All three of them have played a very important role in taking Nigerian music to another level and giving us an international presence. About who the king in the Nigerian music industry is, time will tell.
